Dental Emergency

What qualifies as a dental emergency ?

Dentures that have been knocked out, teeth that have been fractured or chipped, and trauma to the mouth are examples of dental emergencies. Any tooth problem that results in bruising, inflammation, or infection demands quick care. In the event of a dental emergency, it's crucial to get in touch with your dentist straight away to receive quick and effective care.

What are the most common dental emergencies?

The most common dental emergencies include severe toothaches, chipped or broken teeth, knocked-out teeth, loose or lost fillings or crowns, and more. These can be caused by accidents, injuries, or infections, and require immediate attention from your dental professional. Don't wait until it's too late, or you may face bigger problems down the line!

How can I prevent dental emergencies from occurring in the first place?

A dental emergency is something that requires immediate attention from your friendly neighborhood dentist! This may include severe tooth pain, a knocked-out tooth, or a broken or loose tooth due to an injury or accident. Other emergencies include swelling, bleeding, or a sudden infection in your mouth. It's crucial to call your dentist as soon as you notice any of these problems since prompt intervention can help limit discomfort and future damage.

Dental Crowns

How long does it take to get a crown?

Getting a dental crown often requires two trips to the dentist. The tooth is prepped and impressions are obtained for a bespoke crown on the first appointment. While the permanent crown is being made, a temporary one is installed. The temporary crown is taken off during the second appointment, and the permanent crown is firmly anchored. Depending on the needs of each person and the intricacy of the case, the timeframe may change.

How long do crowns last on front teeth?

The lifespan of crowns on front teeth might vary based on a number of factors. For a crown to last as long as possible, good oral care and routine dental appointments are crucial. Front tooth crowns typically endure between 5 and 15 years.

How long do crowns typically last?

The longevity of a crown is affected by a number of things, including dental cleanliness, biting pressure, and the material used. A crown may typically last between 5 and 15 years, but with careful maintenance, some can potentially last up to 25 years.

Is it painful to get a crown?

The process of getting a crown shouldn't be painful, but some discomfort may occur. Your dentist will numb the area to make the process more comfortable. After the tratment, you may experience some sensitivity, but it should subside after a few days.

How do I care for my dental crown?

CEREC crowns can last for many years, often up to 15 years or more. You should make sure to practice good oral hygiene and visit your friendly neighborhood dentist regularly to help ensure the longevity of your CEREC crown.

Root Canal Treatment

How long does the root canal procedure take?

The length of a root canal procedure can vary depending on the complexity of the case, but generally, it takes about 1-2 hours to complete. This can be split into multiple appointments if needed. Your dentist will discuss the expected timeline with you beforehand.

Is getting a root canal painful?

After a root canal, pain and sensitivity typically last a few days to a week. If severe or prolonged pain persists, contact your dentist for evaluation.

Dental Bridge

Is a dental bridge painful?

The procedure for acquiring a crown should not be unpleasant, although it may cause some discomfort. To make the process more pleasant, your dentist will numb the region. You could notice some sensitivity following the operation, but it should go away in a few days.

How long will a dental bridge last?

A dental bridge's longevity might change depending on a person's specific circumstances, oral hygiene habits, and care. A well-maintained dental bridge may endure for several years, often between 10 and 15 years, or possibly more, with the right maintenance and routine dental exams. However, normal wear and tear could call for modifications or replacements. To ensure that your dental bridge lasts as long as possible, your dentist will offer recommendations and costs that are specifically tailored to your individual situation.
