Ryan S. Kim, MD is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in cataract surgery and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery. He is dedicated to providing ethical, honest, and patient-centered care while utilizing the most advanced surgical technologies.
Dr. Kim was born and raised in Seoul, Korea, and came to the United States at the age of 16 to pursue his American dream. He graduated cum laude from Rice University with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering before earning his medical degree from McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. He subsequently completed an internship in internal medicine at McGovern Medical School, followed by residency training in ophthalmology at UT Southwestern Medical Center—one of the nation’s top ophthalmology training programs known for its rigorous and comprehensive clinical education. During his final year of residency, Dr. Kim was honored with the prestigious Resident Physician of the Year Award in recognition of his outstanding clinical excellence and dedication to teaching.
Dr. Kim emphasizes individualized care, taking the time to understand each patient’s visual needs, lifestyle, and ocular history. He delivers superb visual outcomes for his cataract patients by combining meticulous preoperative planning with state-of-the-art surgical platforms, premium intraocular lenses, and laser-assisted technologies. His approach ensures that surgical decisions align closely with each patient’s visual goals.
Dr. Kim also offers cutting-edge procedural and surgical solutions to his glaucoma patients with a strong focus on optimizing long-term intraocular pressure control as well as patient experience and safety.
Dr. Kim strives to stay at the forefront of clinical knowledge and innovation. He is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Outside of medicine, Dr. Kim is committed to his family and church community.
